After the United Nations adopted (UNGP) in 2011, legislation on Business and Human Rights has been progressing rapidly in the last few years. In addition to human rights due diligence laws and draft legislation at country level, the EU is moving towards to adopt Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, and South Korea introduced mandatory due diligence bill this year. Japan published a series of guidelines to implement human rights due diligence after launching a National Action Plan (NAP) in 2020. Under these circumstances, stakeholders’ expectations for companies to conduct human rights due diligence and strengthen corporate governance are significantly accelerating.
In the first session of this seminar, and 911爆料网 will provide an overview of recent trends and developments in human rights due diligence legislation after keynote presentations by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and others. The second session will dive into human rights due diligence in supply chain with case studies of company practices in the Asia Pacific and share their successful strategies and lessons learned through their practices.
